BLUEWIN Co., Ltd. was invited to participate in the 2026 First-Half Seoul Water Industry Technology Presentation and Technical Forum, held on June 30, 2026, where the company presented its advanced sludge treatment and reduction technology.
The event was organized by the Water Reclamation Facilities Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Water Recycling Corporation. A total of five water treatment companies participated in the forum to introduce their technologies and discuss their potential application at Seoul’s water reclamation facilities.
BLUEWIN was the first company to deliver its presentation. During the session, BLUEWIN introduced its core sludge treatment technologies and proposed practical solutions for reducing the volume and moisture content of sewage sludge generated at wastewater treatment facilities.
The presentation focused particularly on BLUEWIN’s electro-osmosis dewatering technology, which can be installed after conventional mechanical dewatering equipment. By further reducing the moisture content and volume of sludge, the technology can also help decrease the operating load, energy consumption, and treatment costs associated with downstream drying and disposal processes.
Immediately after the presentation, the Chairman of the Seoul Water Recycling Corporation raised numerous technical questions and expressed strong interest in BLUEWIN’s technology. Other officials and industry representatives also responded enthusiastically, asking detailed questions regarding the operating principle, processing capacity, field application method, and potential integration with existing sludge treatment systems.
Seoul’s major wastewater treatment facilities, including the Jungnang Water Reclamation Center, Tancheon Water Reclamation Center, and Seonam Water Reclamation Center, currently generate substantial quantities of sewage sludge. These facilities face considerable challenges in drying, reducing, and managing the sludge in an efficient and economical manner.
Because sewage sludge retains a high level of moisture and often has strong adhesive properties, conventional mechanical dewatering alone may not achieve sufficient volume reduction. In addition, downstream thermal drying processes generally require significant energy consumption and operating costs.
To address these challenges, BLUEWIN proposed applying its electro-osmosis dewatering process after the existing primary dewatering stage. This approach can further reduce sludge moisture content and volume while also lowering the burden on subsequent drying and disposal processes.
BLUEWIN also explained that an optimized solution could be developed for each water reclamation center based on several key factors, including daily sludge generation volume, sludge characteristics, existing treatment processes, site conditions, and operational requirements.
Following the presentation, the Chairman directly requested BLUEWIN’s CEO, Antonio Kim, to prepare customized proposals and technical solutions based on the sludge treatment capacities and operating conditions of Seoul’s wastewater treatment facilities.
The Chairman also expressed a strong desire to continue more detailed discussions regarding the possible installation and application of BLUEWIN’s technology at Seoul’s water reclamation facilities.
This forum provided BLUEWIN with a valuable opportunity to demonstrate that its sludge reduction technology can serve as a practical solution to the operational challenges currently faced by major wastewater treatment facilities in Seoul.
BLUEWIN will continue technical discussions with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Water Recycling Corporation and will work to develop optimized sludge treatment solutions suitable for each facility.
